How lucky am I? Lucky times infinity, as Melonhead would say.

I’m spending this coming week visiting six schools and two book stores in New Orleans and Metarie, Louisiana. I plan to spend my evenings eating red beans and rice which was invented in New Orleans and listening to jazz, which was also invented in New Orleans. Both things are so important to that city that Louis Armstrong, one of the greatest jazz musicians and one of the greatest New Orleanians, used to sign his letters Red Beans and Ricely Yours.

I’m going to do the same thing.

Red Beans and Ricely Yours,

Katy Kelly
